Hey guys! How are you doing today? I’m fine thank you. You know why I’m fine? Because the joy of the Lord is my strength that’s why. Satan will try everything in his power to steal your joy away anywhere. And yes even in the church.

let me tell you

I was asked to be the Newsletter editor for my church. Excited, I went right to work on it immediately. Newsletter writing is fun. I grabbed the pictures of some members and their Sunday messages and just put everything together. I’ve been working on the project now for a couple of months, trying to make sure it’s perfect before it’s release date. I’m just happy to have an opportunity for my portfolio.

In May of this year I just launched my own Newsletter and for those of you who don’t know about it, It’s called Maintaining Joy where I highlight your JOY only. I’m very proud of it. Check out some of my stories here to see what it looks like if you’re curious.

Satan throwing his stones

Last week in church I’ve felt the stone that Satan threw. Let me tell you. We were praying. All of a sudden the member that was praying called out the names of the members in church one by one asking God to protect them. Now mind you, there’s only 8 of us in a small sanctuary. The member could NOT have missed me. But she called out everyone’s name BUT mine. I couldn’t believe I was skipped and I Know it was on purpose! This member KNOWS that I’m the Newsletter editor. This member walked right past me. Not in the church! I was crushed. I’ve felt the fiery stone to my chest.

You know what I did?

I brushed it off and went right on with my day at church, still feeling that fiery pain in my chest that hit hard. It’s a different feeling when a person SHOW you they don’t like you in front of people. Have you ever been through that? How did that make you feel? Not a good feeling is it? To me that was totally unnecessary. If a person doesn’t like you, they should just keep it moving, not act like a kindergartner.

My goodness. You don’t call out everybody’s name and skip my name on purpose like I wasn’t going to notice and probably caught the attention of the other members, matter of fact I KNOW it caught the attention of the other members because like I said, we’re in a small sanctuary with about 8 people at the time of prayer.

Woo we are you still with me?

This particular member, that skipped my name on purpose was asked if she was interested in participating in the Newsletter. And NOT to my surprise, the member said nothing. Can you believe it? I know, but yup, totally silence. Not a word. So I guess I was supposed to FEEL some type of way right? WRONG! I’m not letting Satan run me out of the church. I’m NOT letting Satan destroy my beautiful first opportunity of editing the church’s Newsletter for my future portfolio. And most of all, I’m NOT letting Satan steal my Joy.

I didn’t do anything to this church member that I can think of. This member JUST friended me on Facebook last month and said HI to me on Facebook messenger! What happened from that time to now? I don’t know. I don’t even see this member at all but church and we don’t even go every Sunday. So go figure.

So when Satan throws fiery stones at YOU, duck, dodge and keep on moving

I believe Satan tried to set up a trap to get me to run away from my opportunity. Satan will set up traps to stop you from flourishing, if you let him and yes even in the church. Have you ever been so happy in life and everything going your way and then BOOM something happens to destroy your peace? Yup.. But you have to fight and keep on going. God didn’t say bad things weren’t going to happen, but he said he’ll hold your hand through the tough times if you trust him.

Have you ever been given a great opportunity in life and all of a sudden the unthinkable happens? Tell Satan he’s a liar and he won’t steal your joy! Duck, dodge and keep on moving!
