Tithing isn't a New Testament principle taught to Christians. Giving is as you quoted Paul. My dad was the first person to tell me Christians aren't required to tithe. It's an Old Testament command to Israel. I've since seen other Christian leaders and pastors talk about this too. It's become my position as well. Again, I'm not saying don't give anything. As 2 Corinthians 9:6 says "The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully[c] will also reap bountifully" Giving is an act of worship. There is no percentage required as in the tithe, but the more you give as you're able the more you'll reap.

I respect all opinions, just what I was taught, but I believe the word Leviticus 27;32 it says 10 percent

I totally hear what you are saying! I think the 10 percent in a nice guide, I am assuming that is what the author was intending when she wrote this. She even mentioned at the end of the article... if its 10 percent or a dollar, go for it - with joy! AMEN! Maybe for some of us it is 20 or even 30 percent! Blessings Daniel!

Thanks for the comment Ashley. I did pick up on that part about giving even a dollar with joy. I agree 10% can be a nice guide. I just know that even at my own church, its taught tithing is a must and it seems to be the majority view. It's one of the few points I disagree with as a member. Still, I wouldn't want to lead others to violate their conscience if they feel obligated to give 10%. So, I simply share how I understand it knowing some will agree and others will disagree.
